Procter & Gamble — Mobile product acquisition system for RO and SEE markets
Mobile barcode-scanning product-capture app with FTP sync, used by P&G field teams to feed product master-data across markets in Romania and South-East Europe.
The challenge
P&G needed to quickly centralise product data (EAN, name, format, images) collected from shelves across dozens of retail chains in multiple countries, without relying on manual country-specific processes and without introducing latency in updating the central catalogue.
The solution
Android mobile app with native barcode scanner, per-market configurable forms, on-device photo capture and automatic sync to a central FTP server at the end of each field session.
Operator experience
The system was designed to be usable without prior training: the operator opens the app, scans the product's barcode, fills in the missing fields and optionally attaches a photo. All records are stored locally so that lack of connectivity inside a store does not halt work.
About the client
Procter & Gamble is one of the world's largest consumer-goods manufacturers, with a portfolio spanning personal care, home cleaning and food products. It operates in over 70 countries and manages thousands of SKUs across regional markets.
